Who cares why Oktoberfest is celebrated in September when it's October and all you want is a hot sausage and mustard with a side of potato pancakes and thick, bitter beer.
Lucky for us, Oktoberfest celebrations are still underway throughout Chicagoland. With traditional German fixings and beer offered on the menu, Oktoberfest spots make for a festive and delicious meal this fall.
- Edelweiss: Located just outside of the city in Norridge , the recently revamped restaurant features an expansive outdoor café, a great spot for putting down a liter of your favorite Bavarian-brewed beer. In addition to the selection of 16 imported beers available on tap, Edelweiss is including home-cooked German favorites on the seasonal Oktoberfest menu. Some offerings include Wienerschnitzel, Potato Pancakes and a traditional Sausage Platter. Edelweiss is located at 7650 West Irving Park Road in Norridge .
- Prost!: Through October 28th, Prost! is featuring daily Oktoberfest specials including Oktoberfest flight tastings on Wednesdays or mug night Mondays. Prost! saved the most exciting events for the weekends with Fridays and Saturdays featuring a best dressed Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest, keg tapping ceremony, yodeling contests, stein holding contest and polka musical chairs. Stop by the Lincoln Park eatery at 2566 N. Lincoln Avenue.
- Chicago Brauhaus: Located in Chicago ’s Lincoln Square neighborhood, Chicago Brauhaus boasts a good meal, Bavarian atmosphere and stein of cold beer. Oktoberfest specials are available Wednesdays through Sundays until October 27th and include live music, yodeling contests and an extensive menu. Visit Chicago Brauhaus at 4732 N Lincoln Avenue .
- Public House: The River North establishment is celebrating Oktoberfest this Thursday, October 17th with a festive beer tasting party. Attendees can sample German beers including Warsteiner and Hofbrau, receive a souvenir German beer stein and enjoy live music from a German rock band. Public House is located at 400 N. State Street .
