Got Leftovers? Make Simple, Tasty "Trail Mix" For Your Dog

While the holiday season has come and gone, many of us still struggle with how to use up our leftovers on a regular basis. With the price of food, it is very important to many Toronto citizens to get as much bang for their buck as possible. While many dog owners love spoiling their pets with treats, buying them from a store can be quite expensive. Here's a creative way to use up leftovers and spoil your furry friend at the same time:

  • Chunks of meat
  • Potatoes/vegetables
  • Fruit

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. If the meat is seasoned or marinated, rinse the flavouring off gently in cool water. Cut the pieces of meat, potatoes, vegetables and fruit into pieces that are approximately 1/2 inch thick and spread them out on a large baking sheet. Spray the "trail mix" lightly with cooking spray and bake the tidbits until they are adequately dried out. Feed this tasty "trail mix" to your pet sparingly as a special treat, and be sure not to include onions, raisins or grapes, as these are toxic.
