Jon Gosselin's tax lien has been brought to light. On Jan. 10, TMZ reported that the father of eight owes the IRS roughly $39 thousand bucks. According to the popular gossip site, Jon failed to pay the appropriate taxes back in 2009 -- when he was making great money thanks to the publicity from his divorce from then-wife, Kate.
"According to docs filed in Berks County, Pennsylvania ... Jon still failed to dish out the necessary cash to Uncle Sam [in 2009] resulting in the massive tax bill," TMZ reports. It is unknown whether or not Jon has the cash to pay Uncle Sam but he will have to figure something out. Those penalties will only get worse the more time passes by.
Gosselin's tax lien will more than likely be handled privately and this may be the only piece of news that you hear about it. Jon has remained a private person after his split from Kate. Many people know that he didn't want to be on television and the lime light really wasn't for him. It seems clear that Jon will take care of this with an accountant and maybe an attorney but he won't share the details with the general public. And why should he?
Plenty of celebrities get slammed by the IRS for failure to pay taxes or to pay them in full. Jon is no different and he is actually lucky that the amount of money that he owes isn't more.
Gosselin's tax lien could even be erased depending on the documents he has from 2009.
