The scene is for the film “The Place Beyond the Pines,” and Ryan Gosling plays the character Derek Cianfrance. It seems the filmmakers decided against using extras in the film, as they wanted the shoot-out to seem as realistic as possible. Gosling says that the bank robbery scene was done in one take, and they aimed to capture genuine reactions from everybody. It seems that many recognized him quickly, however, and got a kick out of being a part of the filming.
The film will be a definite change of pace for Gosling, as “The Place Beyond the Pines” is a dark film where Ryan plays a stuntman-turned-bank-robber. The film also stars his real-life girlfriend Eva Mendes, and Bradley Cooper is along for the ride.
