According to an Oct. 8 post from MMA Junkie, gorgeous Russian striker Aleksandra Albu (1-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is set to battle Julie Kedzie (16-12 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on Dec. 6 at UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Kedzie is a WMMA legend and pioneer, but not much is known about her opponent besides her model-esque good looks and eyebrow-raising photo shoots.
Albu's signing to the UFC was a bit of a shocker, as she's not well-known outside of Russia. She is unlisted on the Association of Boxing Commissions' official database, and according to a database on MMA website Sherdog.com, she holds just a 1-0 record.
Several female bantamweights have far more experience than Albu, so some fight fans questioned why someone like Leslie Smith wasn't given a shot first.
Albu, one of the top Crossfit competitors in Russia, started martial arts with a karate background, and is currently a black belt. She is a power lifter, having won the Moscow Cup, and she's also a talented judoka.
She trains out of KEGI MMA and the Red Fury Fight team, but has also trained in Phuket, Thailand in Muay Thai.
All but one of her MMA wins happened in Thailand. Her last fight was in her native Russia against Pankration Champion Lyubov Demidova. She has earned first-round stoppages in each of her five victories.
At present time, she's perhaps more well-known for her modeling work than she is her MMA fights.
As for Kedzie, she has 28 pro fights on her resume and is a nine-year veteran of the sport.
While the legend is currently on a three-fight slide, her recent performances were much better than the final results would indicate.
Kedzie lost her octagon debut against Germaine de Randamie via split call at UFC on FOX 8, and she also recently fell short against Miesha Tate after winning the opening two frames of that bout.
UFC Fight Night 33 takes place Dec. 6 at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland.
