Bloodthirst will be returning to the Magic: The Gathering 2012 Core Set, and Gorehorn Minotaurs is a proud common addition to the red assortment of cards featuring the damage-loving mechanic.
Gorehorn Minotaurs
Creature – Minotaur Warrior Common
Bloodthirst 2 (If an opponent was dealt damage this turn, this creature enters the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it.)
3/3
Gorehorn Minotaurs may be slightly harder to cast than the classic Hill Giant or Canyon Minotaur, but it’s an incredibly strong pick in comparison – red may be getting some Limited love in M12 after dealing with a rather powerful but narrow selection in M11.
Compared to much of the fare in M11, Gorehorn Minotaurs seems like an incredible bargain for just 4 mana, a potential (and probable) 5/5 at a very reasonable price.
It’s possible the power level overall of M12 is going to raise the Core Set bar, but Gorehorn Minotaurs seems like a very potent common creature to add to your red arsenal, substantially better than most of the red creatures that were offered at a variety of rarity levels in M11.
They’re basic, they’re big, and Gorehorn Minotaurs have a hearty helping of Magic: The Gathering Core Set 2012 flavor. Let’s hope red gets a good Limited shake this time around.
