Let's face it, Thanksgiving is a lame holiday. It's not long enough to get anything good done, and in the meantime whatever free time you do have is spent driving to see inlaws you hate. Luckily San Antonio's own Goregrowler Entertainment has a way to beat the blahs with a heaping helping of brutal metal in the form of this weekend's Goregrowler's Ball.
The festival starts at 5:30pm on Friday, November 18th, and closes out on Sunday evening. There are over 50 bands on the bill, but notables include Exhumed, Goatwhore, Impiety, Phobia, Brutal Truth, and Suffocation. Thrash legends Hirax will headline Saturday night's showcase in their first-ever San Antonio appearance.
The Korova in the city's downtown area will host the event, with an indoor and outdoor stage running for maximum metal viewing. There will also be a metric ton of shirts and CDs on display from various vendors, so even if you hit a dead spot with bands, it's not like there won't be things to do.
Tickets will be available at the door for individual days or a three-day pass. Pre-sales ended on Halloween. This, along with Rites of Darkness III in December, will have the rest of the country (and perhaps the world) looking in Texas' direction, so we need to make this a success. Come out early and stay to the end! There's no way you won't have a good time.
