John Gordon, a Republican candidate for State Representative, District 52, sued Bill Fairbrother, chairman of the Williamson County Republican Party, and Alyssa Eacono, another Republican candidate, today in district court in Williamson County. Mr. Gordon is seeking to remove Ms. Eacono from the Republican Party Primary ballot. According to the lawsuit, Mr. Gordon alleges that Ms. Eacono does not meet the residency requirements for the office as she has not lived in the district for a sufficient period of time. A visiting judge has been appointed to hear the motion to temporarily restrain the party from printing the primary election ballots. The hearing will be held soon on the matter.
In addition to Mr. Gordon and Ms. Eacono, Larry Gonzales of Round Rock and Stephen Casey of Austin are also running for the Republican nomination. The seat is currently held by freshman Representative Diana Maldonado (D-Round Rock). The primary election will be held on March 2nd and the general election on Nov. 2nd.
