Celebrity chef and TV host, Gordon Ramsay, completed the Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii last week. The Daily News reported on October 21, 2013 that Ramsay shed 30 pounds for the event. Chef Ramsay said that he enjoyed the intense training—it gave him much needed alone time.
Gordon Ramsay finished the Ironman event in 14 hours. The event includes a 2.4 mile swim, then a 112 mile bicycle ride, followed by a 26.2 mile run. Ironman Triathlon takes place every year in Kina, Hawaii. After dropping 30 pounds, the TV chef says he looks like a bloody piece of asparagus.
Ramsay trained for the event with drastic diet changes combined with long bike rides and running. Gone are the high fat dishes. They were replaced by low-fat proteins like fish and chicken. Veggies and green shakes rounded out his new food routine. Exercise included 70-mile bike rides and daily running. Balancing his diet with his profession posed challenges. As a chef, you have to taste everything. He just had to watch the quantity of tasting.
