Gordon Ramsay and David Beckham to open restaurant in London

Soccer star David Beckham and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay announced that they are opening a restaurant in London. The Financial reported on Feb. 4, 2013 that The Union Street Café is slated to open in September 2013. The restaurant will feature Mediterranean cuisine.

Gordon Ramsay Holdings, has faced financial difficulties over the past few years. Family feuds and issues with his in-laws were part of the problem. In 2012, GRH reported that it was back to sound financial health.

David Beckham is investing in the restaurant. The two have been planning this endeavor for a while.

Gordon Ramsay has not opened a London location since 2011, when he launched the Bread Street Kitchen. Ramsay has restaurants worldwide with locations in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, France Italy, Qatar, and Japan.

Gordon Ramsay received three Michelin stars in 1998 at his facility, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. Since then, he has become a renowned chef and TV celebrity.

Beckham and Ramsay have been friends for years. Gordon Ramsay and his family socialize frequently with the Beckham family. The Daily Mail has published multiple pieces of the two families together on outings and at the Ramsay home.

Both men come from a football (soccer) background. Gordon Ramsay suffered an injury which ended his career in soccer prematurely.
