Gordon Lightfoot, Sonny Landreth, and more new concert announcements (Photos)

Several new concerts have been announced in the past couple of days, including a big Gordon Lightfoot concert and a Des Moines Social Club event that were announced just a few hours ago. Here is a look at some of the new concert announcements that you may have missed.

Gordon Lightfoot will bring the "50 Years on the Carefree Highway" tour to Des Moines on May 1. The balladeer will be performing at Hoyt Sherman Place at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show go on sale on Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m. for $46 to $61 (plus taxes and fees). Tickets may be purchased at the Hoyt Sherman box office or online through Ticketmaster.

The Des Moines Social Club has planned the first event in their new digs. The DMSC will host their annual fundraising event Food for Thought on April 4 at 5 p.m. in the fire station at 900 Mulberry Street in Downtown Des Moines. The event will feature tours of the facility, two separate meal options, a showcase of DMSC programming, and music from Cashes Rivers, The River Monks, Jordan Mayland, and DJ 810. If you choose the Brews and BBQ Party option, tickets are $20. For those favoring the 3-course formal dinner prepared by Proof's Chef Sean Wilson (with wine pairings by Sommelier Zachary Mannheimer), tickets are $100. Tickets go on sale on Friday, March 15 at 3:15 p.m., and they may be purchased through MidwesTix. All proceeds from the event go toward the DMSC's programming and remodeling of the fire station.

First Fleet Concerts made a number of concert announcements for their Des Moines East Village venue Wooly's over the past couple of days. First, Mindrite's final show has been moved back to May 24. Originally, the show was scheduled to be on March 15. The 16-and-over show will be hosted by Sub Sonic Social, and will also feature performances by Marcato, As for You, and DJ Jesse Jamz. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. They may be purchased at the Wooly's box office or through Ticketfly. Tickets for the original show will be honored for the new date.

Bluesman Sonny Landreth will play Wooly's on September 13 at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) Tickets for the show are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the show, and they are on sale now. Tickets are available at the Wooly's box office or through Ticketfly. No openers or age limitations have been announced yet for this concert.

The New Jersey metal band Dillinger Escape Plan comes to Wooly's on Thursday, May 9. The Faceless and Royal Thunder will open the 7 p.m. show. Tickets for the all ages show are $16 in advance and $18 at the door. They go on sale through the Wooly's box office and Ticketfly on Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m.

Dead Horse Trauma will play a CD release show at Wooly's on April 20 at 5 p.m. Nuisance, Cirrus Minor, and Pinwheel will also perform. The first 25 fans through the door will receive a free copy of DHT's new album Vi-Ops. Tickets for the show are $7 in advance, and $10 at the door. They may be purchased at the Wooly's box office or online through Ticketfly. This will be an all ages show.

Suffocation will bring the "Despise the World" North American tour to Wooly's on April 9 at 5:45 p.m. Exhumed, Jungle Rot, Rings of Saturn, Admiron, Agrinex, and Corpse will also be on the bill. Tickets for this all ages show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. They are on sale now at the Wooly's box office and online through Ticketfly.

Twiztid and (Hed) Pe will come to Wooly's on April 3 at 6 p.m. Lil Wyte and Potluck will also perform at this all ages event. Tickets for the show are $20 in advance and $22 the day of the show. They may be purchased through the Wooly's box office or Ticketfly.

Contemporary Christian band Crowder will play Wooly's on March 22 at 7:30 p.m. Stetson and Cia will open the show. Tickets for this all ages show are $25 and are available at the Wooly's box office and online through Ticketfly. VIP tickets (includes early access and post-show meet and greet) are also available for $40.

Vaudeville Mews has also been busy announcing shows this week. Rocker J.D. McPherson comes to the Mews on April 17, the anniversary of the release of his debut album. The show will kick off at 8 p.m. and will be 21-and-over only. Tickets are $15, and may be purchased at the door or online through Ticketfly.

Vaudeville Mews will host Band Bombshell's 1-Year Anniversary Party on March 14 at 10 p.m. The concert will feature performances by Volcano Boys, Dustin Smith & The Sunday Silos, and Gloom Balloon. The show is 21-and-over only, and there will be a $5 cover at the door.

Hardcore rockers The Bunny The Bear will take the Mews stage on May 5. The 5 p.m. all ages show will have a $5 cover. No opening bands have been announced.

Comedian/rock'n'roller Stuart Davis comes to Vaudeville Mews on May 17 for a 7 p.m. show. The all ages show will have a $10 cover.

Rocker Andrew W.K. will play Vaudeville Mews on May 23 at 7 p.m. The show is an all ages affair, and tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased online through Ticketfly starting Friday at 10 a.m. Check out Andrew W.K. in action in the nearby video.
