After some decidedly awesome turns in The Dark Knight Rises, Looper and Steven Spielberg's historical epic, Lincoln, it was revealed today that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be joining the sequel to Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's 2005 comic book adaptation, Sin City.
The sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, follows the second book of Miller's Dark Horse series, including a couple of new tales written specifically for the film, and sees Gordon-Levitt play “a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game" according to Deadline.
Sin City was a pleasant surprise in 2005, grossing nearly $160 million worldwide, and receiving a large amount of critical praise. The ensemble cast mostly returns (except for those that have passed in recent years, including the untimely demise of Michael Clarke Duncan and Brittany Murphy) and Rodriguez's eye for intense action and comic book visuals has many excited about the noir-style sequel.
