Several conservative media outlets, including Fox News and the Christian Broadcasting Network, have reported that a transgender student in a Colorado high school has been harassing other girls in the locker room and restrooms, citing claims made by the anti-LGBT Pacific Justice Institute.
These claims have since been dismissed. The PJI never found any cases of harassment, but considered the use of a women's restroom by a transgender girl to be "inherently intimidating and harassing," and made no effort to clarify how they had come to these allegations.
Unsurprisingly, the fact that the story has been completely debunked has not stopped the usual authoritarian suspects from continuing to promote it anyway.
One who couldn't resist addressing the topic was Gordon Klingenschmitt, who, in addition to (predictably enough) blaming a "demonic spirit" for the transgender bathroom policy, took the rhetoric a step further by accusing her of rape.
"This demonic spirit inside of this boy," said Klingenschmitt, "is now violating, and, for all intents and purposes, he's raping, at least visually, these teenage girls."
By that same warped sense of logic, Klingenschmitt should also be accusing every man who has ever used the men's restroom of sodomy (at least visually).
Nobody has ever reported a transgender student dropping their pants and waving it around in the girl's room, and until it is reported, this is, at best, a triviality.
