The Minnesota Gopher women's hockey team kept the accolades coming with a clean sweep of the WCHA weekly awards for the week of February 6th. Amanda Kessel won for Offensive Player of the Week, Noora Raty for Defensive Player of the Week, and Hannah Brandt for Rookie of the Week.
Amanda Kessel has been on a roll ever since coming back from the Winter break. Since coming back on January 11th she has racked up 30 points in eight games. She was on fire again last weekend, as Minnesota swept Minnesota-Duluth, getting eight points. Kessel has been honored five times now this season by the WCHA. She shares the award this week with North Dakota's Josefine Jakobsen, who had a hat trick in both games last weekend against Minnesota State.
Noora Raty has quite a historic weekend against UMD. She gave up just two goals all weekend and got the shutout on Friday to set a Gopher single season record. In the series finale, she got her 101st career win to set an NCAA record. For Raty, this is her fourth WCHA weekly award this season.
Hannah Brandt was again playing at a high level, helping the Gophers sweep UMD last weekend and get a season sweep for the first time ever. Brandt had five points (1g,4a) last weekend and now has 67 points for the season. She leads all rookies in the nation in points and is second only to Kessel in points.
