The Golden Gophers are getting set to travel a long road north, playing this weekend at Bemidji State’s Sanford Center. Friday night’s 7:30pm start will be shown on FOX Sports North, with Saturday night’s game at 7pm on FOX Sports North PLUS. Let’s take you inside the numbers for the series with the Beavers:
3: After the completion of the IceBreaker tournament last weekend at Mariucci Arena, the Gophers sit third in both the USCHO.com and USA Today polls. The Gophers were 105 points off of USCHO #1 Miami-Ohio, and 79 points off of Miami-Ohio in the USA Today poll.
7: In six career games played, Kyle Rau has scored seven points versus the Bemidji State Beavers. Six of those were assists.
4: Four current Gophers haven’t scored a single point in games played versus Bemidji State. Those players: Travis Boyd, Tom Serratore, Brady Skjei, and Mike Reilly.
1.90: Minnesota goaltender Adam Wilcox has recorded a 1.90 goals against average in four career starts versus the Beavers. All four were wins, and he has a .912 save percentage.
8: Minnesota is 8-1-1 in the last ten games with the Beavers. The last two games in Bemidji (March 8-9, 2013) saw a 4-3 and 5-1 win for the Gophers.
11/15/09: Date of the last Bemidji State win in this series. The Beavers won 6-2 that night off just nineteen total shots, and two of the last four goals scored in that game came on power plays with one of those goals per team.
82: Minnesota has outshot its first two opponents this season by a combined 82-48, and of course, both games came in the IceBreaker tournament last weekend.
6: Minnesota has scored six goals in the second period so far this season, which is their biggest output when scoring by periods.
