In December, former SMU football standout and NFL Hall of Famer Craig James announced that he was running for the Senate seat currently held by Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) who announced her retirement last year.
On Thursday, Craig let his feelings be known on the issue of just what to do with the millions of illegal aliens currently inside this country…and he did not mince words.
They "need to go back," said James. "They have to pay the price for coming here illegally."
James who opposes the DREAM Act did not shrink when asked about what to do with children who were brought here illegally, saying it is "unfortunate. But, they are here illegally."
He continued: "We have to squeeze down … find out who they are and get them out of here. I have compassion for those kids, but they have broken the law because they are still here."
James made the comments during a debate with other GOP candidates vying for the soon-to-be vacated Senate seat.
The former New England Patriot running back has been a board member of the conservative Texas Policy Foundation and recently founded Texans for a Better America. He currently works for ESPN as a commentator.
To the crowd’s delight, James wrapped-up the debate by saying: "I’m going up there to kick the skunks out of the bushes. The game’s over, man."
