Despite opposing much of what Russia stands for , many Republicans and right wing media pundits continue to praise Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. During a speech over the weekend, one Republican Senator took his Putin praise to another level.

Speaking to a crowd of conservatives at the Defending the American Dream Summit in Dallas, TX on Saturday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) delivered more criticism of President Obama over his handling of recent policy situations. One international issue that has continued to gain traction is the potential war between Russia and Ukraine. As Vladimir Putin builds up Russian troops to enter Ukraine, President Obama has put multiple sanctions on Russia, but it doesn't seem to be enough for many Republicans.

During his speech in Dallas, Newsmax reports that Cruz compared the president to a "kitty cat," and referred to Putin as the "Russian Bear."

"The Russian bear is encountering the Obama kitty cat. The reason Putin feels no fear to march into his neighbors, the reason our allies up and down Europe are terrified of what happens next, is because our president is leading from behind."

Cruz didn't stop there, and continued his onslaught of anti-Obama rhetoric to the roar of the crowd in the Lone Star state. "Back in Washington, there's a diet that is now very, very popular," Cruz stated. "It's called 'The Obama Diet.' It works very, very well. You simply let Putin eat your lunch every day."

Cruz is expected to a Republican candidate during the primary elections in 2016. The freshman senator from Texas has garnered praise from Tea Party activists, the religious right and others within the Republican party, but has been hit hard from many on the left and in the main stream media.
