GOP illegally silencing Tea Parties

AP Photo/M. Spencer Green

The Republican State Central Committee in Illinois is instructing its County Chairmen to illegally stack the deck against Tea Party reformers in the March 3rd elections.

The Tea Party movement has spent the last year recruiting new Precinct Committeeman candidates to take back the Republican Party for actual grassroots conservatives. But the votes of these newly-elected officials are now going to be nullified as County Chairmen across the state exercise their made-up, non-existent right to vote vacant precincts however they see fit.

The law--Illinois Election Code at 10 ILCS 5/7-8(a)--is clear:

Each elected ward, township or precinct committeeman shall cast as his vote one vote for each ballot voted in his ward, township, part of a township or precinct in the last preceding primary election of his political party.

There is nothing about County Chairmen being able to vote the vacancies. It is not mentioned or even implied. This bastardization of the law turns everything upside down from what was intended and renders the rightfully-elected Precinct Committeemen meaningless--especially in a state with such enormous percentages of the precincts still vacant.

Here is the contact information for those breaking the law to protect the establishment party elites from the will of the people.

    Ah, Illinois, as in Chicago...home of our illustrious leader. The Acorn doesn't fall far from the tree does it? What a disgusting bunch of politicans. They are determined to kill the GOP and make a 3rd (losing) party rise, Perot Part II! Kick them all out, cut off the $$$, tell them they are going to starve if they do this! Go Teaparty, you can do it!

    This clearly shows WHY the Chicago/Illinois machine elects creatures like blago and obama - there is NO DIFFERENCE between the two parties up north

  • Hostile Knowledge 2 years ago

    The establishment GOP will pull these stunts but to the destructive detriment of their own party. Tea Party people are running on angry and in no mood for this kind of crap.

    The GOP had better get its collective house in order. The misguided notion that the establishment GOP is going to co-opt the Tea Party is pure fantasy and a suicidal prescription for disaster.

    The GOP establishment is not the solution; it's the PROBLEM! They are the big cancer on conservatism and they need to be treated like cancer.

    NO MORE POLITICS AS USUAL!!!

    I have to wonder if the threat of a lawsuit against individual County Chairmen for breaking the law could be something to consider. Are there any attorneys on here that could answer that?

    The FBI correctly stated that Illinois is the most politically corrupt state in the nation. It's proven everyday!

    A short bio on Saviano;

    First of all, everyone knows Saviano is really a Chicago Democrat. The guy's contributed financially to tons of Democrats, including to Rod Blagojevich. Skip even served on Blago's Transition Team! Saviano not only regularly writes checks to Democrats, he campaigns side-by-side with some of the most liberal and tainted ones. He has a history of supporting a Democrat even over a good Republican challenger. Saviano's relationships are with some of the dirtiest and most ethically-challenged Chicago Democrats out there. We're talking Party betrayal on an unprecedented scale. Over $100,000 in campaign cash has been transferred in recent years between Saviano's political committee and various Democratic politicians and organizations.

    Democrats Saviano has supported over the years are: Rod Blagojevich; Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley; Speaker of the House Mike Madigan; Tim Drea; State Senator John Cullerton; Democratic State Representative Lovana "Lou" Jones; Secretary of State Jesse White; Democratic State Senator James DeLeo; former Democratic Mayor of Melrose Park Ronald Serpico; Democratic State Senator Don Harmon; former Democratic State Representative Bob Bugielski; Democratic State Representative Kevin Joyce; former Democratic State Representative Edgar Lopez; Democrat Cook County Recorder of Deeds Eugene Moore; Democratic Water Reclamation District Commissioner Terrence O'Brien; Democratic Chicago Alderman William Banks; President of Franklin Park Daniel Pritchett; Democratic Cook County Board Commissioner Larry Suffredin; Democratic 31st Chicago Ward Committeeman Joseph Berrios; and Democratic Cook County Assessor James M. Houlihan.

    Saviano has also contributed to Democratic organizations, such as Democratic Party of Leyden Township; 33rd Ward Democratic Organization; 36th Democratic Ward Organization; Equality Illinois; Democratic Party of Oak Park; and the Coalition for Better Government.

    It ought to be illegal.......

    Dawson bio;
    Gene Dawson serves as Barrington Township Supervisor. Dawson is your typical spineless, go-along-to-get-along party hack. On February 24, 2009, Dawson signed-on to a memo distributed by the State GOP spreading blatantly dishonest talking points about Senate Bill 600 and the GOP State Convention. Dawson demonstrated he’ll do anything to cling to his party title, even if it means burning down what’s left of our State GOP. Dawson, who was Chairman of the State Party’s Convention Committee on Platform and Resolutions at last year’s state convention, allowed McKenna to speak to the committee in opposition to Senate Bill 600, but refused to allow State Senator Chris Lauzen or anyone else outside the committee to speak in favor. In fact, even delegates attending the platform committee meeting at the state convention were not allowed to speak. As Chairman, Dawson could have allowed input from delegates outside the 19-member platform committee, but he refused to do so.

    Dorgan bio;

    Here is sample of Democrats who Dorgan has contributed to, both personally and through his lobbying firm Dorgan-McPike: Rod Blagojevich; Speaker of the House Michael Madigan ; Lisa Madigan; Chicago Democratic Alderman Patrick Levar; former Democratic State Representative Lovana "Lou" Jones; former State Senate President Emil Jones; Democratic State Representative Kevin Joyce; former Democratic State Representative Bob Bugielski; President of Franklin Park Daniel Pritchett; Democratic State Senator Don Harmon; Democratic State Senator James DeLeo; Democratic State Representative Robert Molaro; and Judge Gordon Maag who ran against Republican Judge Lloyd Karmeier for a seat on the Illinois Supreme Court.

    So are we going to sit on our butts and let this happen or we going to get busy and e-mail/call? It's up to us............

  • kaye 2 years ago

    I love it. It's bout time for the GOP. to distance them selves from these crazies before they distroy them.

  • Karen 2 years ago

    So does this mean when we have our county conventions that our votes will be null and void? This makes my stomach turn. Outside of emailing, is there anything else we can do?

  • Debbie 2 years ago

    THIS is another example of why the initials after the name MEAN NOTHING! The only ones who care about them are the politicians! It should be called a "SPECTOR" bait and switch!
    These politicians have a card they insert when they cast a vote, surely THIS would make it very easy to compile a list of votes for a "voting record." YET....there are no places where a person can go, plug in a name and get a record of how that person voted???
    IT"S time to flush DC, if they are in now...they are out in NOV. Then the other 2/3 of the them can go on each subsequent voting year, it will take six years, but WTP CAN replace them all!! AND WE SHOULD!

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

    Kaye,

    76% of Americans agree with these "crazies" on the bailouts. Similarly huge majorities agree with them on their other primary issues--taxes, fiscal sanity, limited government and following the Constitution.

    "Crazies" would be the people who want to floor it as this country nears the cliff (liberals).

    Here is a wonderful You tube that explains EVERYTHING that is going on in the Illinois Republican Party right now and shows the people who need to be voted out as State Central Committee Members because they HATE the Grassroot Republicans!

    Please google

    You Tube Illinois Republican Party Cronies and you will come up with a hard hitting video

  • Robert Moon 2 years ago

    Karen,

    Our votes won't literally be void, they will just be drastically outnumbered by blatantly illegal establishment votes in most counties.

  • Rhonda 2 years ago

    This is another perfect example of the GOP in this state "looking a gift horse in the mouth" They don't get what is going on with the people and they run from us instead of seeing our points on issues, our work and our determination to rid IL of these types of actions from all parties.
    Isn't it great when we are in the fight for our lives, homes, freedoms and money and the Repubs in charge sell us out again. Mark Kirk being backed by the GOP was not enough?
    We may need to encourage our good Precinct Committee chairman to stand firm against this stupidity and stop the final nail in the coffin of this state. The Dems are loving this.

    Taxation without Representation! That is what is going on here in Illinois. Time to put a stop to it!

  • Jerry 2 years ago

    Don't get excited ..just continue attending rallies..making calls ..sending faxes...all Politicians are cowards and all you have to do is to show them our determination and they will get out of the way of the steam roller..did you notice McCain is changing his tune?...He sees us coming..Support Joel Pollack for Congress 9th against Schakowsky..he can win if we help...
