GOP Chair resigns after drunken crash with kids in the car

Amber Hahn, the chairwoman of the Republican Party of Columbia County, resigned Friday after a drunken crash with her three children in her car. Hahn admitted to crashing her car Thursday night while driving drunk, but stated that no one was hurt and that no other vehicles were involved.

In addition to chairing the Republican Party of Columbia County, Hahn is also a Poynette School Board member and volunteer firefighter.

It’s ironic that the same party that attacks same-sex marriage because they want to “protect children,” found one of its leaders putting her three children at risk by drinking and driving with her kids in the car.

It’s almost as ironic as the Catholic Church claiming to be against marriage equality, while at the same time they actively aid and enable known child molesters. The church officials permitting James R. Porter to serve as a priest in numerous parishes in four states - in close proximity to children - even though they were fully aware of his habitual sexual molestation of youths is just one example.

And who could forget about California Assemblyman Michael Duvall? He was the hard-core advocate against marriage equality in CA who later got caught bragging about his sexual conquests with women other than his wife, when a microphone in a Capitol hearing room was turned on in preparation for a meeting. In case you missed his rant about one of the women’s "eye-patch underwear" and his joy of spanking women, you can read about it here

Had enough hypocrisy yet? How about Rush Limbaugh? He is also a republican against marriage equality, yet he himself has been married 4 times.

The Republican Party seems to consistently sidetrack from important issues like the economy and the unemployment rate so they can attack marriage equality. Presidential hopefuls Mitt Romney, Michelle Bachman, Rick Santorum, and Tim Pawlenty even went as far as to sign the National Organization for Marriage’s pledge to “Support and send to the states a federal marriage amendment defining marriage as one man and one woman.”

Maybe the Republican Party should spend less time worrying about restricting the rights of minorities, and more time addressing their own personal issues, such as their own divorces, adulterous rendezvous, drinking problems, and even illegitimate love children…cough…cough…Schwarzenegger…cough…cough.
