A Republican candidate in Michigan believes he can overcome his history of arrests and one bizarre sexual fetish that has landed him in prison on more than one occasion.

Running for Michigan's 95th District House seat is 24 year old Jordan Haskins. Describing himself as a "true red-blooded American conservative," Haskins will represent the Republican party for the open House seat after incumbent Rep. Stacy Erwin Oakes announced her plans ot run for a state Senate seat.

Hawkins knows he has an uphill battle ahead of him after a laundry list of arrests fill his record dating back to 2006. According to North Carolina's Department of Public Safety, Hawkins was arrested multiple times between 2006-2009 on charges related to breaking and entering, larceny and trespassing. After moving to Michigan in 2010, Haskins was arrested again in 2010 and 2011.

According to Michigan Live, Haskins would perform what is known as "cranking." The current Republican candidate would remove the spark plug wires from the car and masturbate while the motor was sparking. Haskins plead guilty to the charges in 2010 but broke probation in 2011 on similar charges after hoping a fence and repeating the acts in a police car.

Haskins says he was in a "messed-up state of mind mentally and emotionally," and hopes that voters can look past his previous mistakes.

"I want to be the Republican, the conservative candidate that says, you know, conservatism is for you. Because conservatism, real conservatism, true red-blooded American conservatism is about grit, hard work, loyalty and traditional values. Your family values. The three values that make up my stool of conservatism are faith, family and freedom. And I believe that many of the citizens of Saginaw share those same values."

Jordan Haskins will face the winner of the Democratic primary, Norman Braddock or Vanessa Guerra in November.
