On a day when much of Chicago will be indulging in a Guinness or three, Goose Island Brewery on Clybourn will be hosting a celebration of stouts created more close to home. Stout Fest 2010, as the event is billed, welcomes over a dozen local breweries to showcase and sample the best of their seasonal stouts.

Participants this year include Flossmoor Station, Piece, Revolution Brewing Company, and Rock Bottom, among others. Part of the proceeds collected for the event will support the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild.

Guests looking for an alternative to the St. Patrick's Day revelry will get 20 single-pour sample tickets with $20. The event runs from 12 noon through 5 p.m.

While nothing served will be green in color (thankfully- these are stouts, people!), the perfect pour of a stout is certainly appropriately celebrated on such a festive day.

Reservations are required. Call 312 915 0071

Goose Island Brewery is located at 1800 North Clybourn Avenue.
