Goonies sequel story by Steven Speilberg (VIDEO)

"Goonies never say die!" has taken on a whole new meaning as of late with rumors and news stories reporting a sequel to the 1985 film (Goonies) is in the works. In 1985 we were introduced to a lovable group of kids that included young actors Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Corey Feldman as they went on an adventure to find a treasure. It quickly became a hit and has continued to become part of a nostalgic landscape for generation after generation. So a sequel or even the possibility of one has the internet buzzing with anticipation and nervousness. Will the cast reunite? Will it live up the original? What will the story be? Cast members have been voicing in on the possibility of a sequel for years. Around the time of the 25th Anniversary celebration Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin said that he thinks the cast would be up for it, "They'll do it for sure - no question about it. I think they would like to do it with all of us, and maybe they will, but they're trying to crack the code, you know?"
And according to a recent run in with director of the original Richard Donner TMZ is reporting that Steven Spielberg may have already cracked the code and come up with the story for the sequel. Donner stating: "Hopefully we're going to get this done, period. Spielberg came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years. You don't do it without him, and he came up with another storyline and he's right on." Spielberg wrote the story for the original film with Chris Columbus penning out the actual script. This news is both exciting and nerve-wracking for Goonies fans. The Indiana Jones reboot in 2008 with Spielberg's involvement felt like a betrayal to many fans of the original. Could Goonies' pirates be replaced by aliens? What are your greatest fears and hopes for the Goonies sequel?
