Have you done a Google search for the National League champions St. Louis Cardinals lately? If you have, you might have noticed a strange description of the team via Wikipedia. The Wikipedia page has been edited back to its normal state, but according to a Google web search, the St. Louis Cardinals are a “gay butt sex team” that calls Busch Stadium their home.
As if a Boston Red Sox fan, or perhaps a Los Angeles Dodgers fan edited it, the Cardinal’s Wikipedia page was lambasted with a gross distortion of the team with homophobic remarks (the revision can be read here, but be forewarned of its graphic content).
Their World Series competitors’, the Boston Red Sox, Wikipedia page describes the organization as a professional baseball team. The Cardinals’ wiki reflects an accurate portrayal of the team now, but the right side of a Google web search still describes the St. Louis baseball franchise as a “gay butt sex team.”
With the World Series tied at 2-2, the Cardinals host the Red Sox tonight for a decisive Game 5. The first pitch will be thrown at 8:07 ET. Jon Lester of Boston and Adam Wainwright of St. Louis will pitch for their respective teams as a rematch of Game 1.
