Google plus update 2013

If you’re a member of Google plus and you were logged into today you may have noticed a few changes. Okay, maybe you noticed more than a few. In fact, it seems they’ve changed almost everything except their web address. Maybe it’s not that bad but, the Google plus update did change a lot of stuff.

Honestly you really notice most of the changes when you visit your personal profile or someone else’s. The social networking site changed things like the size of your cover photo, making it a lot larger than before.

Other changes include a complete overhaul to your profile page, as well as a brand new hover card. The hover card is what makes the new update worth the time to fix everything else. The hover card acts similar to that of a gravatar card which was once loved by affiliate marketers.

The users of Google+ seem to be divided on whether or not they like the new look. Responses for the new look seem to mostly involve the size of the cover photo. Many people, like marketers believe that your best content should be placed high on the page. This is so the user doesn’t have to scroll down to see what you’re all about.

Others think that this is perfect for social networks. After all most social sites tend to thrive on the sharing of images. So why not make your first impression with an image… a very large image.

Personally, I haven’t made up my mind yet but I think the upgrade looks great. The only problem is that I’m sure it comes with a cost that we have yet to notice. That’s okay though, I have faith in Google to fix anything that users don’t like.
