Google Play and Filter Magazine team up for free music downloads

Indie music periodical Filter Magazine and Google Play are giving away a playlist of new Rock, Indie and Electronic music via the Play Store. The playlist, which hit the store today, is one of two free song samplers featured right now, the other one is part of a monthly collaboration with Antenna Magazine, featuring more new Rock, Indie and Hip-Hop tracks.

Between the two playlists, you can download music from both up and coming and established artists like Toro y Moi, Strfkr, and Dirty Money alum Dawn Richard. If Indie, Hip-Hop and Electronic aren’t your thing, Google Play also offers a Free Song of the Day from a variety of Genres, as well as periodic Label Samplers that showcase many different types of music. For example, the “Free song of the Day” for March 1st is “Could This Be Love” by Bob Marley. You can get the music by connecting to the Play Music Store via Android tablets and smartphones.
