While many of us saying 'trick or treat' Google decided to make a slight change in the saying to 'treat and treat'. The first treat they gave was there latest android operating system 4.4 aka Kit Kat. Once we sank our sweet tooth into Kit Kat then Google gave us our second treat in the form of their latest branded smartphone the Nexus 5. As usual when we get home we go through our treat bag to see what everyone gave us. When we came to Google's treat we stopped to take a closer look.
"On the journey to reach the next billion people we need to make sure they are all on the same operating system," said Sundar Pichai, who heads Google's Android business.
Kit Kat is Google's latest update to their popular Jelly Bean operating system that runs on most android-based devices. Kit Kat was designed with for the devices that still run older versions of android. It does not need as much memory as either Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean meaning that smartphones still running Gingerbread can now finally join the rest of android users running the apps made for Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean.
After looking at our Kit Kat we pulled our Nexus 5 out of the bag and read the note from Sundar Pichai that read: "This is a cutting-edge device at an incredible price."
After reading the note we took a closer look to see just what Google gave us. The Nexus 5 has a huge 5-inch screen made from Corning's 3rd generation Gorilla glass. The display boast a 1920x1080 HD resolution at 445 ppi for crisp viewing. It runs the latest android Kit Kat operating system. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 at 2.26 GHz. It has a 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with a built-in imagine stabilizer for clear picture even if you are prone to shake when you snap a photo. The battery in the Nexus will provide you with 17 hours of talk time or 300 hours of standby time. A couple of other fine features we were given on our new smartphone is improved NFC (near field communication), dualband Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 support.
