Google trends released the long awaited Google trends annual Zeitgeist list so we can all discuss what the most searched keywords for the year. According to NPR, the Google trends report on Dec. 30, 2013, the Paleo diet was the most searched diet of the year.
Some see this, Paleo being the most searched diet, as an accomplishment that 2013 was the ‘year of Paleo”. One thing is certain, based on the annual report; we can conclude that the Paleo diet is growing rapidly.
Many people, including athletes, celebrities, fitness personal trainers and models all tout the benefits of following the Paleo diet. The Paleo followers as a whole tend to be very passionate about the diet plan. The basis of the diet is people should eat what was available to the caveman and avoid all processed foods, grains and dairy. They call this the hunter gather foods.
According to Google Trends, it is predicting that Gluten-free and Paleo will be the most popular diet plans in 2014. There are about three million Paleo followers right now, roughly one percent of the population. The diet is far from mainstream, yet.
