Goodwill Columbus kicked off its “Walk to the Moon, Land Among the Stars” walking program on Monday, April 12thThe Sage Senior Services Cafeteria was filled with customers and staff members who cheered enthusiastically at the sight of NFL star James Cotton, Dr. David Sabgir the Walk with a Doc speaker, and the sounds of an in house musician.  The event energized and motivated the participants to begin preparing for a very competitive, four week walking program.

“Walk to the Moon, Land Among the Stars” is Goodwill’s Spring time health initiative focusing on improving health through increased physical activity. Participants were given pedometers to calculate the amount of steps they walk each day.
The recommended number of steps you should walk a day is 10,000 steps which is equivalent to 5 miles.  10,000 steps may seem like a huge amount of steps to walk; however, it comes easy with practice.
A few tips in implementing a safe and healthy walking program are:
  1. Wear the proper clothing and shoes
  2. Walk at a pace which is comfortable and complements your current walking stride
  3. Replenish your body’s fluids by drinking water or a fluid replacement such as: Gatorade
  4. Spend a portion of your lunch by walking around the block with a few of your fellow co-workers
  5. Have fun and enjoy yourself
The employees, staff, and participants at Goodwill Columbus want to challenge you to start walking 10,000 steps today.

That's what's up. I see Goodwill is doing it big. I filled out an application at Goodwill about a year ago. The building was big and nice. How can I get on with employment at Goodwill?

Go Goodwill! This is a great program that promotes physical activity by doing something easy that everyone can do!
