Among the winners at last night's "O" Awards at the AVN Novelty Expo was GoodVibes.com, the online presence of Good Vibrations, the San Francisco-based adult boutique that's been leading the way in the industry since 1977 (there are now four brick-and-mortar outposts of Good Vibrations – two in San Francisco, one in Berkeley, CA, and a fourth in Brookline, MA). GoodVibes.com is the winner of the Outstanding Online Retailer award.
"It was such an honor to win in a category with such an amazing range of nominees," says Coyote Days, Senior Buyer at Good Vibrations and GoodVibes.com. "We strive to offer our web customers the same information as our in-store customers and winning this award lets us know we are on the right track. What an honor!"
Sharon Lee, Director of Online and Retail Visual Merchandising at Good Vibrations, says, “We are delighted to be recognized for our exceptional service and sales as an online retailer. We recently refreshed our site to enhance our online customer’s shopping experience, so it gives us great pleasure to know that our efforts have been rewarded and recognized by our peers in the industry.”
Good Vibrations also took home another special honor at the "O" Awards: Dr. Carol Queen, Good Vibrations' staff sexologist, was presented with an "O" Award for Outstanding Achievement and recognized as the person who has most positively contributed to the pleasure product industry.
On her Facebook page, Queen writes:
"At the Adult Novelty Expo in LA to do a talk on sex-positive toy retailing, I was thrillingly surprised by an Outstanding Achievement trophy at the O Awards for being so sex-toy-friendly all these years! Thanked my (late) dad for being a barber in the 50s and having a vibe for me to steal... beginning of an illustrious career."
GoodVibes.com and the online Good Vibrations Magazine both feature Queen's expertise. She's also a presenter at the store's various sex education programs, curates the shop's Antique Vibrator Museum, and is the founding director of the Center for Sex & Culture.
