Last week on Days, Vivian begged Victor to let her out of the sarcophagus. She said that when Maggie found out what he’d done, she’d never forgive him. Victor asked Vivian if she would leave town if he let her out. She said no, but she wouldn’t turn him or Brady in either… she’d just act like she had just returned from the trip he talked about sending her on. Victor asked why Vivian wanted to remain in a loveless marriage. She said if she couldn’t have his love, she’d settle for the pleasure of his company… but his flirting with Maggie had to stop. Just then, Nicole called Victor to say that she’d talked to Maggie. After they hung up, Maggie showed up at the mausoleum.
Maggie said it was obvious Victor had sent Nicole over and it had gotten her all worried about him. Victor asked Maggie to leave, accusing her of treating him like an old man. Maggie said she wasn’t going anywhere. Victor told Maggie he hated disappointing Isabella and hated the man he was when she died. He admitted he hadn’t liked the man Maggie saw on the pier in a confrontation with Stefano. Maggie said Isabella loved him anyway. As Vivian watched angrily from the coffin, Victor smiled and said Maggie always knew the right thing to say. Maggie asked Victor if he was up to something and if it involved Vivian. Victor said he was involved in a situation and he was handling it his way, not the Maggie Horton way.
Brady entered the mausoleum. Maggie left and Brady apologized for interrupting. Brady noted that old Victor could keep Vivian locked up forever, but the man he was when he was with Maggie couldn’t. He asked if they should let Vivian out, but Victor told Brady about Vivian’s terms. Vivian silently vowed to get even with Maggie when she was let out. When Brady left, Vivian said Maggie would never give Victor the time of day once she found out what he did. Victor replied that he’d just have to make sure Maggie never found out. Victor left, and Vivian started to sing “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.” She turned on the monitor and saw Nicole. Meanwhile, EJ called Brady and told him about Arianna. Brady rushed to the hospital.
When Nicole put the ear piece in, Vivian offered her a deal. Vivian claimed that Brady would be upset over losing Arianna for years and wouldn’t be able to live with his guilt and that Nicole would end up broke and alone… but Vivian could help. Vivian explained that she was gifted a deed to some oil fields and that she was currently without an heir. If Nicole let her out, she said, she’d make her the heiress to a huge fortune and she could live the life she’d always dreamed of. Nicole said she didn’t trust Vivian not to go to the police, turned down her offer and turned off the ear piece. Vivian realized that if she couldn’t appeal to Nicole’s greed, her chances of getting out were all but over. She begged God for someone else to find her.
Kate overheard Brady talking to Arianna, apologizing for his recent behavior and saying that he’d spent the last couple of weeks dealing with Vivian. Curious, she went to the Kiriakis mansion and pretended she wanted to surprise Phillip and Melanie. After trading insults with Nicole, Kate snuck into Vivian’s room and realized all her things were still there. She turned on the monitor and was shocked to see Vivian. Vivian urged her to pick up the ear piece, and then begged Kate to let her out. Kate noted that locking Vivian in the coffin was the smartest thing Brady had ever done. Vivian said that it was good for Kate because Kate could get revenge on both Nicole and Victor by letting her out. After considering it, Kate decided to let Vivian out. As she went into the mausoleum and reached for the lever, Victor appeared and asked what she was doing. Victor realized that Kate knew Vivian was inside the sarcophagus. Victor offered her a cash bribe to keep her quiet. Kate asked if Victor really thought she’d accept money as a bribe, and they laughed. They went into the mansion to make drinks as Vivian realized she’d lost another ally.
EJ visited Arianna in her hospital room. She tried to tell him that Sami shot him but couldn’t get the words out. Rafe walked in and demanded that EJ get out. In the hallway, Rafe threw EJ into a table and they fought. Lexi came out and broke up the fight, telling them that Arianna had gone into cardiac arrest. Dr. Walters told a stunned Rafe that Arianna’s lungs had been damaged beyond repair. She was too weak for a transplant and would never go off life support if she was put on it. It was just a matter of time before she died. Meanwhile, at the Brady Pub, Will pretended to knock Arianna’s purse to the floor while Gabi wasn’t looking. He realized her video camera wasn’t in it.
Rafe called Gabi and broke the news that their sister’s condition had worsened. Gabi ran crying onto the pier, Will right behind her. As Will consoled Gabi, she figured out that Arianna and Will had been arguing when she was hit by a car. Gabi said that she hated Will and what his family had done to her… and that Arianna’s accident was his fault. Will started to run after her but Sami appeared and stopped him. She said they would find a way to make things right.
Brady sat with Arianna, telling her how much he loved her and giving her his mother’s rosary so she would always have someone to watch over her. Arianna whispered “I was wrong” and squeezed his hand. As Gabi entered the room, Brady told her how much her sister loved her. Brady stepped outside the room and was consoled by Melanie, who’d just learned about her accident. Brady admitted that he still loved Arianna. Arianna’s monitors went off and Melanie and Lexi rushed into the room. As Melanie read Arianna’s numbers, her voice broke. As Lexi charged the paddles, Melanie pleaded with Arianna to fight.
EJ found Will alone in a room at the hospital. He said he knew that Will hadn’t shot him. Will said he was right, but he wished he had… and he wouldn’t have stopped at one bullet. EJ said Arianna was dying because of him and his mother and he’d make them pay. As EJ went to torture Sami with the same news, Will rushed out and almost hit EJ. EJ backed off, apologizing. Sami went into the hospital room where Rafe and Gabi were consoling each other. Rafe asked her to stay because they were a family. Gabi and Rafe stepped out to take a call from their mother. Arianna opened her eyes and whispered that Sami wouldn’t get away with it because she had proof. Gabi and Rafe rushed back in just as Arianna’s heart stopped beating. Lexi came in, but there was nothing she could do. As EJ returned with flowers, he realized Arianna had died. EJ shoved the flowers into Sami’s hands and said he hoped she was happy. Later, Rafe and Gabi decided to give Arianna’s heart to a dying 15-year-old girl at the hospital.
Carly went to Maggie’s to give Melanie her sympathy about Arianna. Melanie asked her to leave. Carly said she’d hoped that Arianna’s death would make Melanie realize that they all needed to love each other. Melanie said she wanted to love people she could trust and accused Carly of keeping Chloe’s secret even if the baby turned out not to be Daniel’s. Carly swore she would’ve told Daniel the truth if the baby hadn’t been his, but Melanie wouldn’t listen. Melanie asked if Bo knew what Chloe had done and Carly admitted she didn’t tell him. Melanie said that Carly hadn’t made anything right. Carly yelled, “Don’t you think I know that, sweetheart?” Carly left and Melanie started to cry. Later, Daniel showed up, fresh from his honeymoon. Melanie said he needed to hear the truth.
When Carly left Maggie’s, she ran into Kayla. Carly suggested they go to dinner but Kayla coldly said she was leaving that day. Kayla asked Carly how she lived with herself. Carly realized Kayla blamed her for Bo and Hope’s marriage breaking up. Carly yelled at Kayla, saying she wasn’t responsible for Bo leaving Hope and saying that who Bo chose to love was not up to her to decide. Bo found Carly and asked why she was so upset. Carly said Kayla blamed her for Hope’s problems and that she’d never stop hating her for it.
Chad went to the DiMera mansion to thank Kate for the job offer. She tried to get rid of him, but Stefano invited him in. Chad apologized to Stefano for his rude behavior but still turned down the job offer. Kate wanted to know why Chad didn’t want the job. Chad said it was because she wasn’t doing it for him. Kate said she’d just been trying to help since Chad had just lost his mother. Chad said that if he could make it without a mother or father, he didn’t need her either. When Chad left, Kate called him a fool and said he needed her more than he knew. She decided it was time everyone learned her secret before Stefano found out she’d been keeping it. She made a call and arranged for an anonymous delivery, making sure it couldn’t be traced back to her. Kate placed an envelope on a table with gloves on. A delivery man arrived and took the envelope while Kate played dumb.
Kinsey took Sydney to the park to play. They ran into Nicole, who was overjoyed to see Sydney. Kinsey remarked that Sydney obviously knew who she was and made a crack at Sami’s half-assed parenting. Kinsey hinted that she’d bring Sydney back to the park the next day. The next day, Nicole waited patiently in the park until they arrived. Nicole played with Sydney and told her how much she missed her. Just as Kinsey was ready to take Sydney back to the pub, Caroline walked up and snatched Sydney out of Nicole’s arms. Furious, Caroline told Nicole she was never to touch Sydney again. As Nicole sat on the park bench, Chloe arrived and told Nicole how great her honeymoon was. Nicole made a comment about getting Sydney back. Chloe tried to talk her out of doing anything crazy, but Nicole insisted that Sydney had once been hers and somehow she would be again.
Back at the pub, Kayla ran into Caroline and noticed how upset she was. Caroline explained what had happened and wondered how she could tell Sami that Nicole had held Sydney. Kayla said she knew what it was like to have to keep a secret. She told Caroline about the mess Stephanie was in and that Chloe’s paternity test results may have been switched. Kayla said she was certain Carly had done it and had no choice but to tell everyone… including Bo. Caroline begged Kayla not to and finally admitted that she was the one who had switched the test results. Shocked, Kayla asked why. Caroline said she heard Stephanie and Ian talking and felt sorry for Stephanie… and that she realized how many lives would be ruined by the results. Kayla realized Caroline was hiding something and urged her to tell her the rest of the story.
Stephanie and Nathan kissed at their apartment and made plans to enjoy their day off. Nathan wanted to make sure they were able to say goodbye to Kayla before she left because he wanted to do something. Phillip arrived and told Nathan Arianna died. Nathan went to call Melanie, but Phillip stopped him and yelled at Nathan for hurting Melanie and forcing her to keep a secret from Daniel. Stephanie came out of the bedroom and made Phillip back off. She said it wasn’t Nathan’s fault and that they’d keep Chloe’s secret, but that he needed to leave. When Phillip left, Nathan said he couldn’t wait one more minute. He told Stephanie how much he loved her, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
