At just six weeks of age, an adorable pit bull puppy named "Oscar," was secured in a plastic bag and tossed away like rubbish in a trash can located in Reid Park, Tuscon, Ariz.
According to Wednesday's Arizona Daily Star, the cruel deed took place earlier this month, during one of the coldest weeks this season.
Oscar is alive and well today, thanks to the keen ear of a good Samaritan who happened to be at the park that day.
That individual was having lunch at Reid Park on the same day that Oscar was struggling to survive. The man heard squealing and noticed a bag moving in the trash bin.
Fortunately, the man quickly plucked little Oscar from his frigid confines and rushed him to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona for care.
Since that time, Oscar has been recuperating from his traumatic ordeal.
Aside from the trauma of being thrown away like an old shoe, Oscar is dealing with a damaged foot which appears to be the result from some sort of trauma.
A shelter spokesperson shared the following with the Arizona Daily Star:
“The pup also has a deformed back foot; he is missing bones in his foot which causes his foot to appear much different than normal. The missing bones are most likely the result of trauma.”
Right now, the local authorities, and the shelter, are looking for the individual who abandoned Oscar in the trash. Anyone with tips or information is asked to call: 520-88-CRIME or 520-547-0260.
