Good People Brewing to release Coffee Oatmeal Stout in cans

Good People Brewing Company's Coffee Oatmeal Stout finds a new home in cans and gets a new word added to its name in the process. Cans will be available starting next week.
Good People Brewing Company

The time has finally arrived and Good People Brewing Company (Birmingham) is ready to release cans of their Coffee Oatmeal Stout next week.

Coffee Oatmeal Stout (COS) has been a long-standing favorite with Good People fans since it was first released in 2008, but we were all limited in access to the beer because of its draft-only availability since its inception. COS has been slated for cans for quite a while now, but the brewery ran into a bit of a hiccup in getting label approval from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). After a lengthy back and forth, the word "Flavored" was added to the name of the beer and the whole TTB mess has been cleared away to allow COS to finally find its way to retail shelves.

COS is a member of Good People's Ales from the Heart of Dixie lineup, the brewery's five staple beers that are available year-round. If you happen to be unfamiliar with this delicious brew, here is the full description from the brewery's website:

Known to fans as C-O-S, our Coffee Oatmeal Stout delivers a big coffee taste followed by a wallop of Willamette hops. Complex and flavorful, amazingly sessionable. Good after a meal.

ABV: 5.7% IBU: 51.2
Hops: Columbus, Willamette
Malts: Pale Malt and 5 Specialty Malts
Yeast: British Ale

COS will be available in 12 oz. cans (pictured above), and word on the street is that it should start hitting shelves by Tuesday, January 14. Although it is a year-round offering, the first batch of cans will probably go fast due to demand. With that said, do not get discouraged because COS will be canned frequently and will also be available on draft for growler fills throughout Good People's distribution area. If you are a die-hard COS fan like I am, I wish you luck in grabbing your pack next week. It's going to be really nice having this beautiful beer in the fridge from now on. Prost!
