A horse in Roswell, New Mexico is going to a new home and that has to be the best news for her. She had been shot in the neck with a firearm.
Fortunately, the single bullet missed hitting her spinal chord and also her esophagus.
She was found by two boys south of Roswell late in January, wounded and in pain. They moved quickly to seek help for her. The mare received excellent care from a veterinarian, healing well and suffering no infections.
The 15-year-old mare survived the shot from an as-yet-unidentified assailant and made an excellent recovery. Her condition improved well enough that she has now found a wonderful new home.
Sources have said that the mare is going to the farm of an equine masseuse in Rockwell and that she takes in abused horses.
Officials have confirmed that she has already been picked up and is living with her new owners. She is safe and sound and a welcome new addition.
There is still a $3,500 reward leading to the arrest of the person who shot the animal.
It would be welcome news to the authorities if someone had information about the shooting and claim the reward.
