The New Orleans Video Access Center has recently announced exciting news for residents of the state's capitol. With the film industry's constant expansion across the state, Baton Rouge has become a growingly popular location for filming. As a result, the need for locals with professional skills has also increased. To support these efforts, NOVAC brings its Ready, Set, Film series to interested Baton Rouge residents, starting with the familiar entry-level work program, P.A. Bootcamp.
NOVAC has partnered up with the Baton Rouge Office of Community Development to sponsor P.A. Bootcamp. The program's instructors lead participants in an intensive 2-day workshop, complete with guidance and referrals on how to get jobs in the industry and succeed as production assistants.
Topics covered include:
- production paperwork
- set terminology/protocol
- hands-on short radio training
- crew department overview
- finding work in the industry
Applications will be accepted through March 7 at 5pm. E-mail is preferred, along with a resume, though interested parties may also drop paperwork off at the Film Baton Rouge office (359 3rd St Baton Rouge, LA 70801), or send it via post to NOVAC's main office (532 Louisa St New Orleans, LA 70117).
The first BROVAC event will take place March 22-23 at the Celtic Media Centre.
