Good Earth State park at Blood Run will be dedicated as a South Dakota State Park later this month. It lies just to the southeast of Sioux Falls along the Big Sioux River. Parts of it also lie across the river on the Iowa side.
Blood Run is an important archaeological site, having been populated by Native Americans for thousands of years. The area was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1970, but not before damage was done by previous Settlers and looters.
July 19 between 11a - Noon will be the dedication ceremony. It's open to the public; there will be quest speakers and members from area Tribes. Afterwards there will be a guided tour. There is currently one bathroom and drinking water available at the site.
