Today fans enjoyed a banner day. For years, "Good Day New York" co-hosts Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly were a staple on television sets in the New York metropolitan area, then one day, Greg was doing the news at 6 p.m. and co-anchoring with Dari Alexander on the 10 p.m. news. For the last seven months, Dave Price was the co-host with Rosanna and the spark just was not there.
Rosanna told fans that Dave Price wanted to go on to bigger things, and they have been friends and will always be friends and wished him luck. Rosanna welcomed Greg back with a box of Entenmann's cinnamon buns on this morning where the temperature registered thirteen degrees, and Greg said that he would normally be sleeping for four more hours. Steve Lacey will now be taking Greg's place at 6 and 10 p.m. Steve co-hosted "Good Day Early Call/Good Day Wake Up" from 4:30 to 7 a.m., Steve's twitter page is here.
For those who do not know, Greg is the son of New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly; the undeniable leader of New York's Finest.
Reporter Robert Moses, who started with Good Day New York during the last time the pair co-hosted welcomed Greg back and told them he felt like he was talking to his "Good Day New York" parents and welcomed Greg back. Greg told him that they probably would qualify in age. The affectionately refer to him as "Bobby Mo."
Antwan Lewis, reporting on a story about a regular diner at a popular restaurant who forgot his wallet, was happy to see his friend back in the co-hosting chair as well and admitted that he kissed him on the cheek earlier that morning when he first saw his buddy.
It was reported on FishbowlNY, that management did not feel that Kelly's jovial attitude was unsuitable for the serious 6 p.m. newscast, and the owners of the chessboard planned to move Greg back to "Good Day New York" then put Steve Lacy in Greg's place and relegate Dave to the early assignment that Steve had. They reported that Dave asked to be released from his contract because he did not want the earliest assignment. Maybe the whole story will emerge at a later date. Nonetheless, welcome back, Greg Kelly.
