Good dad or great dad

Most dads think of themselves as a good dad. All dads can use a little help in navigating today's parenting life. There are dads who work full time, part-time dads who only see their children on designated visitation days, and stay-at-home-dads with moms being the breadwinner for the family.

Children First, Inc. in Sarasota is offering all dads in the community the opportunity to learn some new skills to use in their role as a dad with a Nurturing Dads Workshop being held beginning in March. Registration is now open, and dads may begin registering on January 15 to participate in this worthwhile workshop just for dads. The workshop is free to all kinds of dads-step-dads, expectant dads, married or single dads, and granddads are all welcome to participate in the workshop.

Classes will begin on March 5th and will be held every Wednesday through May 7. Class time will be from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss issues that are important to dads with other dads. Dads always have a different perspective on parenting, and the discussions will definitely be of interest in getting ideas from other fathers.

Classes will be held at 1723 North Orange Avenue in Sarasota. Interested participants may contact Jack Baker at 941-953-5507, ext. 127 or by email at jbaker@childrenfirst.net. Dads may also register at childrenfirst.net.

Give yourself the opportunity to learn new skills for being a dad and you will become the great dad that you would like to be during the new year and for years to come.
