It was a good day for college basketball in Eastern Washington as both the Washington State Cougars and Gonzaga Bulldogs won important games. WSU knocked off the Oregon State Beavers, one of the teams that was leading the way in the Pac-12 conference after the non-conference schedule. Gonzaga beat Xavier on the road in a game that could have national repercussions.
Gonzaga won 72-65 behind some great play from Kevin Pangos (pictured) and Sam Dower off the bench. Pangos finished with 14 points, 7 assists and 2 steals while Dower came off the bench to provide 20 points and 10 rebounds in just 22 minutes. This was a very important non-conference victory for Gonzaga that allowed the team to improve to 11-2 on the year. Now the rest of the regular season will rest on how the Bulldogs do against a tougher West Coast Conference that has BYU in the mix.
