The Gonzaga Bulldogs beat No. 22 Oklahoma State Monday night (Dec. 31), giving the team a very nice road win. It was a highly competitive game, but Gary Bell, Jr. hit an important three-pointer with less than a minute to go to put this one in the win column.
Beating another ranked team is extremely valuable for the 13-1 Bulldogs and it certainly gives Gonzaga an important win for the 2013 NCAA Tournament resume. Kevin Pangos led the way in this one with 23 points and Kelly Olynyk provided 21 points to show he has become a very important addition to the starting lineup.
Though the game was pretty low-scoring, Gonzaga shot really well from the field. The team hit on 48% of their shots and also posted an 83.3% mark from the free throw line. The Bulldogs really commanded the glass as well, out-rebounding the OSU Cowboys 33-18 on the night.
Gonzaga came in at No. 10 in the latest college basketball rankings, but it's certainly possible that they could get another boost from the voters next week. The next game for the Bulldogs comes on Jan. 3 when they open WCC play against Pepperdine. They play on Jan. 5 as well, with another road game coming against an 11-3 Santa Clara team.
