New breweries continue to open up at a frenzied pace. Large urban areas are the lucky recipients of most of these brewing operations, but some smaller cities can also lay claim to a brewery all their own. There is a small city in Texas that is home to a new brewery that is ready to debut its beer here in Houston at a special event this weekend. Here is some background information:
Event: Goliad Brewing Release Party
Location: Outlaw Dave’s, 6502 Washington Ave., Houston TX
Date and Time: Sunday, March 2, 2014 starting at 3 p.m.
Goliad Brewing is a startup brewery located in the city of the same name; Goliad, Texas, which is just a short drive southwest of Victoria. The brewery is making its debut in the Houston area with this special event at Outlaw Dave’s and everyone age 21 and up is welcome to attend.
For this special occasion, Goliad Brewing is serving up two of its regular beers on draft: Goliad Golden and Red Fish IPA. As an added bonus to attendees, they will also serve a special Jim Beam barrel- aged brew. No one know what style of beer is getting the Jim Beam treatment, but it is bound to be delicious and is certainly reason enough to attend.
As part of the festive occasion, What’s on Tap, a radio program hosted by Chris Spradley and James Simpson, plans to broadcast live and welcome the Goliad brew crew to the Houston area. Oh, and let’s not forget the other significance of March 2: It also happens to be Texas Independence Day. And what better way to celebrate any occasion than with a new beer from a newly minted brewery?
Breweries continue to open at breakneck speed and it’s great that the small city of Goliad has a brewery to call its own. Combine the spirit of Texas Independence Day with new beer and there is no good reason not to attend this event at Outlaw Dave’s. Come to the party, and show your support for this latest brewing startup, Goliad Brewing.
