The following is a list of the prize money up for grabs for professional golfers on the PGA Tour at the 2014 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which will be played from April 24th to April 27th, 2014, at the TPC of Louisiana golf course located in Avondale, Louisiana near New Orleans.
The Zurich Classic of New Orleans dates all the way back to 1938. It has had many different names over the years and been played at many different golf courses in the New Orleans area too. The tournament has been played at the TPC of Louisiana golf course continuously since 2007.
No golfer has ever won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans more than twice. An oddity for such an old PGA Tour event.
Two-time winners include Carlos Franco (1999, 2000), Ben Crenshaw (1987, 1994), Chip Beck (1988, 1992,) Tom Watson (1980, 1981), Billy Casper (1958, 1975), Frank Beard (1966, 1971), Bo Wininger (1962, 1963), Byron Nelson (1945, 1946), and Henry Picard (1939, 1941).
A number of those players won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in back-to-back years. Defending champion Billy Horschel will be trying to add his name to that list this week.
Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Rory McIlroy are not playing in New Orleans this week. I'm not sure of any of the three have ever even played in the Zurich Classic, but I know for sure Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Rory McIlroy have never won this tournament.
