The following is a list of the prize money up for grabs for PGA players at the 2014 Memorial Tournament, which is being played from Thursday, May 29, to Sunday June 1, 2014, at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
The Memorial Tournament was founded by Jack Nicklaus in 1976. Jack Nicklaus also designed the courses at the Muirfield Village Golf Club, which is in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, and is not far from where Jack Nicklaus was born and raised.
The Memorial Tournament is an invitational event, so the field size is smaller than at regular PGA events (120 vs 156 players). The field for the 2014 Memorial is excellent, and includes Adam Scott trying for back-to-back wins after his thrilling sudden death win last week at the Crowne Plaza Invitational.
Also playing in the 2014 Memorial is Rory McIlroy, who is also trying to win in back-to-back weeks after he just won last week in Europe at the BMW PGA Championship. Based upon what happened last week to Rory McIlroy, who won, and Caroline Wozniacki, who lost in the first round of the French Open, I would say that Rory McIlroy is the one who probably called off their wedding.
Phil Mickelson is playing the Memorial this week, and looking for his first win in the tournament. Tiger Woods is not playing here as he recovers from back surgery, but I bet Tiger Woods would love to be here this week.
That's because Tiger Woods holds the record for most wins in the Memorial with five (1999, 2000, 2001, 2009, 2012). In second place is Kenny Perry with three wins (1991, 2003, 2008). Golfing legends Jack Nicklaus (1977, 1984), Hale Irwin (1983, 1985), Greg Norman (1990, 1995), and Tom Watson (1979, 1996) all have two wins each here.
