Golf Channel’s Chamblee calls No. 2 Tiger Woods steaming pile of No. 2

November 10 -- Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee has not exactly been the president of Tiger Woods’ fan club since all hell broke loose last Thanksgiving, and he’s hardly the first talking head to spew his loathing for the former No. 1 golfer. But calling Woods a steaming pile of s**t does not exactly raise the level of discourse.

Parity or parody? Here’s what Chamblee wrote In a rambling GolfChannel.com essay that began as an argument about the parity in golf that resulted from Woods’ loss of focus since smashing the hydrant allowed his reprehensible personal life to gush forth:

“Woods’ off-course troubles and the issues they brought up are long since dead but all dead things leave something behind: decomposing matter. The smell of that matter has replaced the awe.”

What is Chamblee, 12 years old?

Take that! Chamblee has ranted in the past about Woods’ shabby treatment of the press, something about which golf fans could not care less. So, perhaps the former PGA professional and analyst scorned has taken the chance to shove back what he believes Woods has tossed at him and his compatriots.

Chamblee’s certainly not the first media member to whine like a little boy about the erstwhile golf ace’s disrespect for media members, some of whom continue to fawn over Woods. Golfweek’s Alex Miceli is not one of the apple-polishers.

Fulminating as if he were personally betrayed by the golfer, Miceli angrily called Woods gutless during a Golf Channel spiel earlier this year. Miceli also blamed Woods’ disdain for the press corp for his reaction.

Played like a fiddle. “I will say that when you have been covering a particular athlete since 1996 and you find that he has [been] nothing more than untruthful and has been playing all of us like a fiddle for years, I have to speak my mind,” Miceli told Golf Examiner in an e-mail back in May.

Woods has taken his share of well-deserved criticism over the past year (you know who you are, Johnny Miller, Tom Watson, et al) and will likely continue to do so. But, whether you love, hate, or somehow remain neutral about the world’s second-ranked golfer, is it not way past time to move beyond the petty, personal attacks?

After all, though Chamblee, et al, may believe otherwise, Tiger Woods did not cheat on them.

Woods has no one to blame but himself for the storm of criticism over the last year and what’s sure to come next. Read how the first of what are sure to be many kiss-and-tell books will hit the shelves to commemorate the first anniversary of Woods’ infamous car crash.

    I agree with Larry.

When will the press and especially Chamblee,
Miller and Watson get over themselves.
    Tiger did nothing to them.
Stop whinning. Chamblee and Miller just wish they were as good as Tiger.
Watson also an A!!!!hole. I thought he knew better.
All (3) of you including the Golf Channel just fueled the fire and keep it burning.

Get over your self and stop whinning.

REALLLY Chambelee, let it go. Your beef with Tiger is yours alone. Its making YOU ...look bad. Tiger is not the only married golfer with loads of women and you know it. (Its wrong, and a personal matter for their wives to contend with and not you). You and the Golf Channel continue to fuel this fire, and I donot understand why. Do you really think that I watch golf when Tiger is not playing? Stop making the game about you and your beef with Tiger, it make you seem petty.

Chambelee...I did respect you at one time and thought you wee right on with your commentary...ut you are blowing it with this one. Give it up and let Tiger get back to golf, we all want that. That's why we liked him and thats what he's good at. All men will fail you, don't look around for a good example, look up.

Chamblee you are a MORON. Nerver liked you and even more so now. Golf channel you need to get rid of this guy. Does nothing for the show. I can't believe what I was reading. As for Miller and Watson, take a look in the mirror you guys as far from PERFECT . Tiger has done wonderful things for golf. Many of these golfers have cheated, they just didn't get caught. I thought we were done with this Tiger bashing. RIDICULOUS.

I am disgusted with the golf channel, and the low class treatment and vulgar attacks on Tiger Woods. Tiger has done more for the game of golf than any golfer to ever play the game. When Tiger won the masters for the first time (I believe he set a record for that win) I decided to take up the game myself. I also started watching the golf channel on a daily basis. I was under the impression that golf was a gentlemans game, and we should conduct ourselves accordingly. The golf channel evidently feels that their announcers and commentators can make sleazys low class remarks about Tiger Woods, and we should ignor their complete reprehensible lack of class. I know Tiger made some bad mistakes in his private life, but he has done some wonderful, decent and humanitarian things in his personal life also. I know numerous golfers on the pga tour that have done as bad or worse than Tiger, but nothing has ever been said about them. I am a caucasian, but I feel that Tiger has been horribly discriminated against. Tiger has too much class to say it, but I feel someone needs to say it. I no longer watch the golf channel and I feel the golf channel and its commentators individually should be sued for everything they have. I, as a white caucasian american golfer am ASHAMED by the bigoted disgusting behavior of the white golfing community and especially the golf channel. In my opinion TIGER WOODS IS A BETTER MAN THAN ANYONE ON THE GOLF CHANNEL.

It is sad to hear comments from someone like Brandel Chamblee re. Tiger Woods. What qualifications does he possess to constantly crique and rundown Tiger Woods swing or lifestyle? Why does the Golf Channel give a second rate player like Chamblee the microphone to make such off the wall statements? He doesn't have the credentials to do so.......You would think the Golf Channel would have enough money by now to hire much better quality people.....some of their commentators are not up to the job....If Johnny Miller gives swing analysis of players, I pay attention and he knows what he is talking about, Chamblee has obviously let his 15 minutes of fame go to his head.........the Golf Channel is first rate in every department except for this bad apple.......time for him to go......
