The Men’s U.S. Open is in full swing at Pinehurst Resort in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C. The U.S. Open Women’s Championship takes place next week.

There are 100s of golf courses in our region, sometimes called the sandhills of North Carolina, but if you’re interested in golfing someplace else in the world, your might consider the Canadian Rockies courses for a little cooler temperature and hillier terrain.

There’s the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course, the Canmore Golf & Curling Club, the Kananaskis Country Golf Course, the Silvertip Golf Course and the Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club. All are challenging and picturesque, to say the least. To say the most – well, that’s what you’ll be doing if you go and play.

There are some great deals to check out: Canadian Rockies Golf Deals.

And you can win your way there if you enter and win the “Trip of a Lifetime” to the Canadian Rockies Contest, courtesy of ECCO shoes and Golf Galaxy.

One winner will receive a prize package for two consisting of roundtrip airfare, luxury accommodations at the Fairmont Banff Springs, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and a Clique property, along with golf at five Canadian Rockies golf courses.

To enter, go to - no purchase necessary. Entries must be submitted between June 8th and June 22nd, 2014, so get right on it.

And for golfers who might like to get a little sense of what it's like to play in a major golf tournament at a fictitious Carolina sandhills golf resort, consider starring in Sandhills Fore-Play, a personalized golf fantasy book we wrote that stars you and your Sweetie - that's right, you two are the stars of the book. It makes a great gift for any duffer, especially for Father’s Day, as well for birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries – or just to give to that golfer who has everything golf.

Regardless of where, how, when, or why you play the game of golf, here's hoping you hit 'em straight and enjoy every minute of it.
