Goldfish cracker from God: Florida woman finds sign from God on cracker (Photos)

People insist that they see signs from above all the time, but a woman in Florida appears to have seen it in pack of snacks. Yahoo News reported on Friday, April 5, 2013, that a woman from Brevard County, Florida was eating a pack of Golfish crackers and found what she considers to be a "sign of God."

Patti Burke says that the Goldfish crackers are her favorite snack and she eats two or three pounds per week, one by one, looking for the saltiest ones imaginable. Recently though, she found one that is a little holier.

“When I picked this one up, I knew he was special,” the Melbourne woman said of her Holy Week discovery. “He had a cross on him, and he had a crown circle up by his head. Something I’ve never seen before out of all the Goldfish I’ve eaten.”

Burke simply couldn't believe that she had found the sign of the cross on a Goldfish cracker on Easter Sunday. As her pastor, D. Scott Worth, began talking about how the fish is a symbol of Christianity in front of the congregation, she still just couldn't believe it.

The reason that the fish became the Christian symbol is unknown, but many believe it could be due to the story of Jonah and the whale. Others believe it comes from when Jesus fed 5,000 people with loaves of bread and fish.

Whatever the true case may be, Burke is pleased with her find and knows what it represents.

“I believe that it’s a sign, a sign from God, that ... he is still in our life every day and he wants to show that to his people,” Burke said of the baked cheddar cracker. “And it’s something that happened right here at Easter.

“After talking with Pastor Scott I know that what all the cross means. It’s eternal life with the circle around the cross.”

Burke wouldn't go as far as to call it a miracle, but she thinks "it points to the miracle, which is Jesus Christ defeated death. And that's what Easter is all about." She wasn't sure about it though, so she took matters into her hands to find out more info.

“I called Pepperidge Farm and said, ‘Hey, do you have some special promotion going on, I think I’ve got the lucky fish,’” she said. “They called me back and said there’s no way this could have been printed like that in the factory. ... They said it sounds like something miraculous happened and we don’t know how it happened.”

For now, Burke isn't sure what to do with the "sign from God" Goldfish cracker, so she carries it with her in an earring box padded by gauze.
