Ted Williams, the "golden-voiced" homeless man who has become an internet and media sensation, has been hired to record voiceovers for the MSNBC Lean Forward campaign, which begins airing on January 6, 2011, according to a January 6, 2011 press release from NBC.
In light of the inspiring story of the “golden-voiced homeless man” Ted Williams, MSNBC announced Williams is recording voiceovers for its Lean Forward campaign, which will begin airing this evening. Williams will also appear as a guest on "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" tonight at 10:00 p.m.
Ted Williams was discovered begging for change on the side of the road in Columbus, Ohio. The former radio announcer spiraled to a bottom due to drug and alcohol problems, according to statement he has made in interviews. Someone recorded him and posted the video on the internet, where the video has had over three million hits.
Since the discovery, Williams has been fielding job offers and opportunities. He traveled to New York today to see his mother for the first time in 20 years.
Williams’s remarkable story of overcoming difficult circumstances and turning his life around embodies the very same American ideals that the Lean Forward campaign seeks to highlight.

This is a time in our history that we need a "feel good" story that has a "feel great" ending. I pray that MSNBC Lean Forward (and KRAFT foods) and any other sponser that has committed to this man will continue their support of him. Everyone knows someone, either friend or in their inner family, that has a relative with issues involving drugs or alcohol. Thank God he was able to reunited with his mother and may she be what a mother personifies "support." Whenever someone champions dark forces try to shield the light. I am sure that there are issues that need to be resolved with family and that Mr. Williams could benefit with some type of therapy--his discovery does not make him immediately clean. Save this man because it is my belief that his first thought is that of a christian man and if he is enabled to be the man that he was meant to be (with support of the community) he in return will provide for others 10 fold. God bless Ted Williams and God bless MSNBC. I look forward to enjoying his beautiful voice and watching his joyful story unfold.
