Earlier today, anime publisher Sentai Filmworks confirmed that they have acquired the romantic comedy anime series, "Golden Time", for release in North America next year.

The 24-episode "Golden Time" series is based on the light novels from Yuyuko Takemiya and the anime is produced by the animation studio J.C. Staff (Aria the Scarlet Ammo). The series is directed by Chiaki Kon (La storia della Arcana Famiglia) and features character designs from Shinya Hasegawa (Revolutionary Girl Utena), series composition by Fumihiko Shimo (Clannad) and sound direction by Jin Aketagawa (Bodacious Space Pirates).

"Golden Time" takes place at a private law school in Tokyo, where would-be law student Banri Tada tumbles off of a bridge and unlearns everything thanks to retrograde amnesia. That isn’t Banri’s only problem however, a portion of his psyche, containing all of his earlier memories, has broken off into a separate entity that proceeds to follow him around. At the same time, Banri’s friend Mitsuo is being hounded by a childhood friend determined to hold him to his agreement to eventually marry her. Banri and Mitsuo aren’t the only oddballs at the school either, Nijiden-ku has given up the 3D world for 2D.

Sentai Filmworks will release "Golden Time" on home video in 2014; no official release date has been given at this time. The series will also be available through select digital outlets soon.
