Lexus, a senior Golden retriever mix was too old for her family; on July 28 the slower walking 11-year-old senior dog with the peeling nose was callously surrendered to the East Valley Animal Shelter in Van Nuys, California.

As a side remark to the former owner, how in the world did you expect someone to rush in and adopt a dog you threw away as yesterday's trash?

Lexus has never been spayed and has been reported to have lived outdoors for the greater part of her life. There has been no information shared as to her past life, but volunteers who have met this 73 pound dog state she is extremely sweet. One volunteer writes:

"She has been out in the big yard with another dog and was very friendly. She is playful and spunky and shows no hip, leg or spine issues at all. Tail wags constantly and she moves great; more like an 8-9 year old dog. Very engaging. A big teddy bear!"

And with that endearing report of Lexus, the senior citizen, it is sincerely hoped someone will come forward and give this beautiful dog the retirement she so deserves. Please share her story with your friends, relatives and coworkers. Sharing saves thousands of lives, and it only takes one special person to make that connection with Lexus and save her life.
