Jake, a gorgeous golden retriever, arrived in south Florida yesterday, and although he was deemed aggressive by police in California, TriCounty Animal Rescue just wanted to give Jake another chance reports wpbf25news.com.

TriCounty Animal Rescue, located in Boca Raton is a 100% no-kill shelter, and has dozens of dedicated men and women who donate thousands of volunteer hours to the shelter's furry residents.

In California, Jake had witnessed someone killing his master, and when police arrived, the dog growled as authorities tried to get near the deceased. Even though Jake was obviously guarding his owner, Animal Control determined the dog to be not adoptable and scheduled him to be euthanized.

TriCounty arranged for Jake's plane ride to Florida, and a rescuer riding with the dog on his way to the shelter stated Jake spent most of his time sitting on her lap giving her kisses.

Volunteers at the shelter say he is one of the sweetest and kindest dogs they have ever met.
