Golden opportunity in New York, sale of actress Rue McClanahan’s personal items

Right behind legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor’s glitzy auction, is “Golden Girls” veteran actress, Rue McClanahan’s sale of her treasured items.

Not only will you see McClanahan’s personal belongings going on sale, but items like scripts and costumes from the longtime running sitcom, Golden Girls will be up for bidding at Adam Hutters Auction Gallery on Saturday.

So what are the personal items going up for sale?  “A lot of fun things that remind everybody of Rue,” Hutter said.  “A photograph that proves it is from her apartment.  If there is any doubt then we have clothing, a faux fur, because she was very adamant about animal rights,” continued Hutter.

McClanahan was best known for portraying the fun loving, bed-hopping, young-at-heart, “Blanche” in the NBC long-running sitcom.

The golden girl passed away in June 2010, and was 76.  Other famous Golden Girls who passed on before McClanahan was, Estelle Getty who played the know-it-all, spunky “Sophia,” and Beatrice Arthur, legend actress who portrayed, “Dorothy,” the smart school teacher who made a bad mistake marrying her loser husband, “Stanley.”
